I have a 67 coupe with a front bench seat. How rare is this? The title also lists the year as a 66. Is that possible?

About 8100 coupes made with a bench seat in 67..You require a 65C bodysyle to be correct. Do the numbers on your regi, door and inner fender match

The title is produced by government workers at your state's DMV. Anything is possible to show up on the title, but that doesn't make it true. Typos happen. After purchasing my 69 mach I Q-code (428 cobrajet) I copied all paperwork and then submitted for a new title. It came back with a Z for the fifth VIN digit instead of the correct Q. If you'll notice on your keyboard, the Z and the Q are both keys that your left pinkie finger would hit. I guess they hit the wrong key. I had about a 1 minute ethical dilema....do I leave the title with the Z in the VIN or correct it to the Q? For those of you not familiar with engine codes in 1969, the Z code was for a Boss 429....

Ethical dilema? For us guys with nothing special cars, a 428 cobra jet isn't exactly chopped liver!! I'd say you were doing fine either way.

I told them about the mistake and the lady said I must have filled out the paperwork wrong. So I asked her "Does that mean I can put down anything I want for a VIN number?" She said of course not!I told her they should be using the pre-printed number on the surrendered title, and besides, I was sure I didn't copy down the incorrect number because at the time I was using the VIN for my AOL password. She looked at me like she didnt' believe me, so I rattled it off for her. She looked down at the paper, shook her head, wrote and stamped something on it and re-submitted it. Got the correct title in about 2 weeks.

I have heard that some states have used the year of sale as the year they put on the title. My brother's '66 fastback is titled here in California as a '65 model. But this is due to an error at DMV...the car was built July 8th 1966.------------------ Gary M '46 Ford 1/2 ton, '46 Mercury 1/2 ton, '47 1 ton, '57 Fairlane 500, '70 Mustang 63B SportsRoof, '95 Mustang GT coupe
