...is that if you ask him an honest question, he gives you an honest answer.

Here's an email exchange we had, I had this saved in my emails, and it made me wonder how many people would have just recommended the most expensive part. Rick gave me the info I needed to decide for myself:

O.K., heres the deal

They are BOTH damn nice.

Yes, they are both sold in pairs.

Yes, the repros are imported.

In some ways, the repro is a bit nicer of a piece. Its a cleaner casting on the back, and its ever-so-slightly smoother/straighter reflecting when you sight-down the chrome. But of course the original has the engineering #s cast in the back, and gives you that Im putting original Ford parts back on my car feeling. Either pair are excellent quality, so it really comes down to whats important to you, price vs. origin. You cant go wrong with either.

I was looking in the catalog at the '69-'70 Sportsroof quarter window molding and I noticed there are two available, the 29796-1A original for $109.95 and the 29796-1B repro for $69.95. Is this one of the cases where the repro is better than the original? Is the repro imported? They are sold in pairs, right?

Thanks!

To me, that's just good business. He told the truth, even tho he knew he could lose money, and that's something never seen in this day and age. I will buy everything possible thru NPD, just because of Rick, and the people he has working for him. Way to go Rick!

Steve,
I can only agree with everything that you have said. NPD is tops in our book and has held that position for several years now. When we did the interior and engine compartment, NPD had every part we needed in stock.
About five years ago, we ordered exterior mirrors for our '65 fastback. Well the mirrors were on back order. No problem. NPD will ship them when they come in. About a month had gone by and I was about to call and inquire on the status of the mirrors. The same day a letter arrives from NPD. Inside was a nicely typed letter and refund check. The mirrors had come in but, did not pass NPDs quality inspection. The letter also stated that if NPD wouldn't put it on any of our cars, how can we expect you to put it on yours??? Now that is what I call customer service.

Thank You Rick and NPD!! You guys are tops.

This might start to sound like "Rick's Fan Club", but I have to agree with the above.
He's definitely the most honest retailer I have ever dealt with who will take the time to respond to any issues you might have.
Perhaps he should run for President, but he's way too honest!

He's not really losing money, he might make 30 bucks on the Ford part and 20 bucks on the import. So for losing the gain of 10 bucks, look at what he did to solidify his relationship with Steve and through Steve's post, the rest of us here at M&M.

I'd say he made money on that deal.

Everyone I've dealt with at NPD are super folks. I had a question about a part and the guy went to the warehouse and pulled the part and checked out what I was asking about to be sure I was getting what I wanted. Cant ask for better than that.

Rick is the best!

Even if he does hang out with the likes of Scott Lamar.
