Cory, I know we've dabbled at this before, but did your 68 come with a factory deluxe interior or did you convert it?

Same goes for the 8000 tach and 140 speedo?

Got some questions regarding each...

OK, deluxe interior...
Was there a vendor that had a comprehensive kit for you to use to do the complete conversion, or did you end up doing it piece-meal.

Anything unexpected about it such as the braces for the door pulls inside the door.

8000 rpm tach...have you had any problems with the wiring such that the tach cuts out on you? I have a factory 8000 rpm tach and I've run into a problem where it works some of the time and not others. The way I understand that it is tied to the ignition circuit, it would seem that if the car is running, the tach would be working. When it isn't working, it either doesn't come up at all, or bounces around 400 rpm regardless of actual engine speed. Other times it works fine. I've already sent it out once to be calibrated and that did not seem to affect its operation.

I assume you bought a tach underdash wiring harness, or did you just wire in the tach manually?

I pieced the interior together many years ago.The dash is an original pc.I actually bought the gauge cluster from Ford,The only thing repo are the door panels.
I had problems with the straps and ended up making copys of the special brackets they use.I think i still have a few.The arm rests are the hardest thing to find.Cougar XR-7 are the same but have much more grain to the material.but they are far less prone to cracking.
Cougar door pull straps are close to the Mustangs as well...minor differences in the square chrome buttons..

The Tach......there is no under dash tach harness. It is part of the main harness behind your gauges. The tach is wired in series with your engine. If your tach dies your engine in theory could quit..dont know how you have it wired but this is how they did it...
There is a pink fleshy colored wire in your harness (resistance wire) it is marked "DO NOT CUT". Cut it and run one side in to your tach and the the other side out of.
My tach works fine but is not acurate. It reads about 20%high.
There is a 68 Shelby down the road from me with the interior out of it.I can get some pics of the door brkts if you need them.
