On my 68 I did this swap with a similarly priced part from a local mustang shop which appears identical to the one at Mustangs Plus. It worked, no more rupturing pressure lines on the headers and on the highway the manual steering is no problem. If your trying to fix a vibration, it did not change that in mine, if anything I have to hold on tighter over bumps in highway ramps. Also, I've found manual steering won't cut it for motor cross type driving, but then again, the darned pressure hose isn't going to burn down my car.

I used the mustangplus part. Worked fine. I did it for: 25lbs front end weight reduction. increased net horsepower. increased underhood space for headers no need to by a ram drop bracket for headers cleaner look under the hood. The downside is that the car is more of handful to steer, I cant sling it into corners with one finger like before. I think long-term I may do a power rack conversion because I would like quicker steering but thats big bucks and low priority. ------------------

I did that on my Comet and would do it again in a heartbeat if I got another car with that design of power steering. The difference in precision is an eye opener, but there is more effort required, obviously.

I did it in my 65 hardtop and love it. I put in a new Flaming River steering box also, which helps ease the effort a bit.Nick
