I keep sanding and keep finding holes. First the floorpans, then the rockers, now fenders and the quarters. This on a near perfect body without any outward sign of the junk below. I need the small piece on the front of the quarters (both sides), just over the rockers for my 67 FB. Anyone know where I can find these? The mustang I worked on was rusted in that spot on both sides, I think its the same spot you are talking, right on the seam and the rocker too. Someone had worked on it before and did shoddy bodywork. I made my own patches. Try some mustang suppliers, or you could check browns-of-tworivers.com, they carry some patch panels for older vehicles. I can't remember if they carry that patch or not. Seems more replacement sheetmetal is made for the 64-66 mustang.

Your problems make a strong case for stripping the entire car. I remember taking parts into a bead blasting co. They had a "rustfree" 57 Chev post 2 dr. that had just been done There were little pinholes of rust in places where one wouldn't expect to find any. Had it not been stripped, those pinholes would have appeared in larger holes....now under an expensive paint job. Had that same problem on a 66 cvt that I was buying and selling. A guy came along and made an offer I couldn't refuse. Made less money in the beginning but probably more in the long run. Stripping the car will often reveal those tiny blackish spots that are rust spots in the making. A 67 fastback is in that area of value where it would pay to spend more and get it right the first time. If you have rust in the lower 1/4, you may very well have rust in the 1/4 waiting to come out around the wheelwells, etc. as this is a very common area for rust, particularly in an area where salt has been used in winter. Offer this as an opinion based on personal experience. Good place for patch panels is NPD, a site sponsor.

I'm just glad the guy getting ready to paint insisted it be taken down to bare metal. He was the only one I spoke to about painting it and he kinda aggravated me that he wouldn't back off on this. I'm glad he did now.Turns out there is no seperate piece below the quarter and a PO had grafted two extra, similar pieces with joints in at some point in the car's past. I have quarter patches on their way now, so I should be good to go. ------------------ ------------------------ 1967 472 PS headed to PT D1X FBstang 1972 429 Mach/CJ Vert Clone 2004 F150 4x4 Crew FX4 Hobby site: www.mikesmustangs.net
