I am trying to retrofit a Sanden A/C compressor in my 69 351W and have run into a bracket issue that holds the adjuster. It seems that the 351w in 69 is unique and difficult to find. So I have two options run one belt for the P/S and A/C or try and modify a 302 bracket that will need some serious mods? ------------------ 69 393W Sportsroof Deluxe

I'm in the process of doing that to my 70. The 69s had the dual belt waterpump pulley though right? Mine has a single belt. I plan on running a single belt to my waterpump, a/c sanden compressor, and power steering. If that doesn't work i may run the a/c belt over to the alternator and run those with a single belt. This will eliminate my 3 row crank pulley in the near future when i go with billet pulleys (can't find a 3 row billet crank pulley). It also eliminates those ugly adjustable and fixed idler pulleys. Either way, the alternator is adjustable and the power steering pump is adjustable so you can have the a/c compressor fixed. I just haven't gotten all the parts yet. Where did you get your conversion hoses from? I can't believe they want $60-90 for a single hose!Oh, if you look at Classic Auto Air's website they have a pic of the belt routing. Its kinda hard to see but i think it is in the daily driver system and is looking at across the engine from the drivers fender. You can kinda tell that the belt runs to the alternator from the a/c compressor. I called them and they said i HAD to use the idler pulley. Asked them about the pic and they said that it just looks that way. Let me know what you think cause i can see the belt going around the alternator. ITs the last picture on that page for the daily driver systems. ------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang [This message has been edited by buening (edited 08-26-2005).] [This message has been edited by buening (edited 08-26-2005).]

Thanks for the input,Buening I think your eyes are better than mine because I cannot tell from that photo where the belt goes for sure.I do have the dual groove pulley setup and am concerned on trying to run the P/S, waterpump and A/C on the same belt. I have heard from another owner about trying this on his 302 without success. He said that the belt works until the compressor comes on line. The only thing I have going for me over this guy's setup is on the 351W the pulley's are alittle more spread apart and makes a more diamond shape. Forunately my High pressure hose was in good shape so the only hose I got was the LP and that was part of the kit from Classic Auto Air. I thought I was going to get a kit that would make life simple but unfortunately in 69 there was a few changes made especially for the 351W. There is an option on www.alangrovecomponents.com this -105L bracket but that will raise the compressor over two inches from where it is now. Besides being ugly I don't think I have the hood clearance.

Yeah i am not sure as i haven't gotten everything on to test it. I'm gonna buy the adapter bracket for my york bracket here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7993464730&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AITI think it would be safer to run the belt over to the alternator from the a/c compressor, as you have two things hooked up instead of the 3 with the PS and Waterpump. In order to eliminate belt slip, there must be a minimum of 90of belt touching the pulleys if you know what i mean. ------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang

Buening, You are da MAN! That idea of using the ALT and A/C on the same belt looks like the best chance of making this work. Iused a Gates 7580 belt and it looks pretty clean. The real test will be once I get the A/C system hooked up and charged and turn on that compressor. [This message has been edited by Clark (edited 08-26-2005).]
