It's a tube for heated air for your choke if you want to use the stock setup. Kinda crude looking, huh?------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '05 Mercury Sable LS 3.0L DOHC 24V Duratech V6

Yeah I agree with Steve.I've never seen it come already welded on though, they usually leave it up to you if you want it on or not.Maybe they have to put it on to satisfy some emission law?------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker...................................................................1966 mustang coupe project.289 4 speed,3.20 rear http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

I have to side with Steve on what it is but I?ve never seen headers come with one already on there. Which headers (part #) did you get?

I have Hooker SuperComps that had the exact same thing. That was until I caught that tube while taking the headers out for some tranny work. It was then I learned that that little spot weld will break all the way into the header tube. Now my headers have a nice weld job where that tube used to be!Moral of the story - not only are they ugly, there flimsy! Phil
