Got my new Hooker Headers, has anyone seen this before and what is it?

Rebuilt 302 Heads

It's a tube for heated air for your choke if you want to use the stock setup. Kinda crude looking, huh?

Yeah I agree with Steve.I've never seen it come already welded on though,they usually leave it up to you if you want it on or not.Maybe they have to put it on to satisfy some emission law?

I have to side with Steve on what it is but I?ve never seen headers come with one already on there. Which headers (part #) did you get?

I have Hooker SuperComps that had the exact same thing. That was until I caught that tube while taking the headers out for some tranny work. It was then I learned that that little spot weld will break all the way into the header tube. Now my headers have a nice weld job where that tube used to be!

Moral of the story - not only are they ugly, there flimsy!

I agree with the dremel but it also might be an issueif you have an auto trans and the dipstick tube?
