I don't know, but I think on ebay someone was saying that they would do it for $800 anywhere in the US. They was selling a car. Not for sure about that.

I dunno. I've heard of cars being shipped all kinds of ways. We didn't specialize in cross country work but the tow-truck company I worked for generally needed $1 a mile to take things cross state and I can't see that being lower now.

If you have time off work renting a trailer from a place like U-haul (not that I recommend them above any other rental place) and towing it behind an appropriate vehicle is probably the cheapest.

When I moved from Maryland to Florida 2 years ago, I rented a car transport and a truck from Uhaul. I got the smallest truck that could pull the trailer. It cost me $1000 for a one way trip.

Last year when I got my car I had it shipped from Dallas to Detroit (both main terminals for the transport company). I had top row service, and it cost me about $800.

A month ago I priced a haul from AZ to MI and it was less than 1K$ door-to-door. I figured at $2.80 per gallon for gas, 2 or 3 motel stays, eats, etc. I couldn't do the round trip using my own truck/trailer for that. It was more $$ if it didn't run, if you wanted it in a covered trailer or if you couldn't give them 2 weeks advance notice. They provided insurance for the trip and required 10% down at time of pickup and the remaining 90% when delivered.

I had purchased my car days before we moved, so I wasn't going to get it registered and insured. I contacted various transport services and they told me that the vehicle had to be registered and insured or they wouldn't do it. Hello U-haul!!

Actually you should recommend U-haul over the others for what you stated. U-Haul is actually the only rental place that will let you rent just a trailer. The others require a truck and trailer rental.

I bought my car on ebay. Had it shipped from Los Angeles to Detroit. Took about a week. Cost $750 a few years back. I think $1000 for closed carrier. Mine came on a closed carrier anyway right to my house.
