I want to lower my upper A-arm on my 67 by 1" (shelby drop). Problem is, the template I found for it: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/1966/granada.html looks like it will move the A-arm forward as well as down. I know a 65-66 goes down 1" and over 1/8", but the problem I see is with the geometry shown on the 67/68 template is this: The template I have keeps the center of the upper and lower holes at 90 degrees to each set's center line. But since the upper A-arm has a slight tilt already, the new holes will be moving the A-arm both down and foward by some amount. Is that right? I drew up a little sketch to make my poor verbage a little clearer, but how can I post it on this message board? Thanks everyone!

Yup, only 1 " straight down. Only ones that are drilled more forward (1/8" i think) are 65 & 66 ... David F.

If you look closely at the template, you'll notice the top drawing is for a 65-66 Mustang, while the bottom one is for 67+Cheers

I think the confusion is in what are we calling straight down?If you look at the drawing, the 1/8 movement off-center for 65-66 actually keeps the holes lined up vertically with no net movement fore and aft. The 67 + drawing stays on centerline which effectively moves the control arm a little bit forward.

Im with Sig, I did the same for my 68 (moved down on the centerlines) which actually moves it slightly forward. Worked fine. Main thing was to get the holes drilled where you intended them, I drilled some pilot holes. And get yourself an alignment when its all done. I detailed my new springs and shelpby drop a little in my website. Phil

Sig and Indy, thanks!! You guys both got exactly what I was trying to say! The template will move the upper arm a bit foward because the new holes are drilled straight down (90 degrees) from the centerline of the old holes. You're both a lot more elequant in speach than I am. OK Indy, now that I know you've done it and it works, I'll give it a shot. Thanks everyone!
