What type of engine? Inline 6? I'll assume it's a small block Ford with aluminum heads, since those are the most common engine/aftermarket head combos. I have Edelbrock Performer heads, and the holes line up well for my AC and alternator. I assume that they'd also line up for power steering if I had it since the holes line up so well with the other brackets (I have at least 6 brackets and braces on the front of the engine!). AFRs also line up pretty well (from looking at my buddy's 165s). As you can imagine, with all those brackets there are many ways to put them on, but only one correct way. Perhaps look carefully to see if this is the case? When I first put on my AC brackets, I had one of them behind another where it should have been the other way around. I also had missed a spacer. I ended up stripping a bolt hole (easy to do with aluminum ) and needed it helicoiled. There is also the possibility that you need a spacer or two. For cheap, use washers to see if this helps...
Good luck, and let us know more details so we can help you better.
Daniel

No inline bad choice for a screen name; 289 ford but i have 86' 302 heads on it and theres a smog port in the front. All i have is an alternator, no PS no AC. I can't think of anything except making my own bracket??

I think you need the alt spacer/fitting that goes to the head. It lookes kinda like a "T". Go to item number 8055 kinda near the bottom of the page.

Your top bracket should have three holes two go on the water pump and the other is the long 6 inch bolt that makes the alt. pivot for adjustment. The long 6 inch bolt should go in the hole to the left of the freeze plug there maybe more than one threaded hole but you need the one furthest to the left of the freeze plug. the lower bracket should have one hole and one adjustement hole (long hole) for applying tension to the belt. The smog port will be left unused but make sure you have the plugs in the front and the back side of each head pluged up or you will have exhuast coming out of there. If you have anymore questions let me know

i forgot to add there is a spacer on the 6 inch bolt too that is inbetween the alt. and the head on the shoulder of the bolt. i don't know the exact length but i can measure it for you if you need to make one.
