What's the difference in location of the kickdown arm (that's welded to the accel pedel pivot assembly) on a SB car verses a BB car?
I am piecing back together an S-code shell and bought an accel pedel assembly for a V8 auto equiped car at a swap. But I was just told that the kickdown arm that's welded to it is moved over a few inches on the BB cars for clearance. Is this true? It's no prob to carefully grind off the arm and weld to the other side, but how much?
Thanks.

If you find out its different I'd like to know also...NPD has them listed in their catalog as being all the same for the v8 automatic from 66 - 68. Until I hear otherwise I'm gonna say they are the same. Test fit and try it.

I just got some input from another site.
"On a SB car the kickdown arm is BETWEEN the ears of the mounting bracket. On a BB car the kickdown arm is outside (driver's side) of the driver's side ear of the mounting bracket. There's not much room there so there is really only one place to put it" (that info was courtesy John Bednorz). I'm going to believe him on this one and modify my bracket.
The problem with test fitting is that (from what I hear with the big blocks anyway) you have to bolt the accel bracket onto the firewall BEFORE installing the engine or you can't get it in there. And I aint gonna shoe-horn that engine in there any more times than I need to! LOL!!

They are defiantly different as the engine and trans are wider. I can?t tell you how far to move it, as my car does not have the kick down. It was a 4-spd car!

Might want to try looking here!

I ground off and re-welded the kickdown arm this weekend. I'll send some picts of it to any who wish (I don't know how to post them on this site).
I had Ed's same concern about how far down the arm should be relocated. But as it turned out, outboard of the swivel bracket on the driver's side (where the arm is to go) has so little room that the arm can only go in one place!
I clamped the assembly to my workbench and used a magnetic angle finder to get the angle of the arm before I ground the welds. That way I could re-weld in exactly the same orientation, just moved over. Worked like a champ. Don't know if everything clears though, as the motor and trans are still sitting on the garage floor! But I just finished bending and installing all my hard brake lines (pre-bent lines are waaaaaay too expensive for what you get! and plumbed in a adj. proportioning valve with gauge while I was at it. So now I'm almost ready to install the drivetrain; I'll post a new message to let you know how the linkage fit.

ED - So you're running a C6 with no kickdown cable? What do you do to pass? Does the vacuum modulator dealy thing on the back of the trans take car of it (you can see how much I know about autos! LOL!)
PS: My S-code was also a factory 4-sp, but I'm swapping in a C6 too.

It?s in the process of waiting for a paint job so its partially disassembled. I haven?t driven it in a while but I would just downshift manually. Not sure if it would do it without the cable but I?ve always did the manual thing.
