I've always heard the Interior Decor group for the '70 had molded door panels, however, my Deluxe SportsRoof has standard door panels. Can anybody confirm that standard door panels were available with the Decor group?

As far as I know the Interior Decor group got the molded door panels. They're one of the main parts of the package.

My Boss302 has the deluxe interior option and it's door panels are moulded with the arm rests as all 1 piece. They have a strip of carpet at the very bottom, about 6". I am replacing my door panels this summer due to the original arm rest cracking. Does anyone fix these or do they have to be replaced?

In 1970, the interior decor group DID NOT include molded deluxe door panels on coupes or sportroofs. To spark your memory on this, pull up a picture of the interior of any '70 Boss 429. All came with the interior decor group, and they all have standard door panels. I've got a thoroughbred restored '70 Deluxe Sportroof 428, and the door panels are correctly standard.

In '70, the molded deluxe door panels were used for Mach 1, Grande, convertibles with the interior decor option, and interestingly enough, the Boss 302's optioned with the interior decor group also got deluxe door panels.

It's confusing, and many reference books get it wrong and say that the interior decor came with deluxe door panels in '70.

Excellent. Thanks much Rick. I have always wondered about this topic, even been told that my car was wrong by not having the molded door panels. Thanks again.

That's what I would have thought before Rick cleared it up.

Hey Boss - I'm in the same boat as you, replacing the door panels on my stang. Don't make the same mistake I did and assume that "reproduction" door panels, are all the same. I ordered a pair six months back and pulled them out two weeks ago to put on the car, only to find that they are far from an accurate reproduction. I hear that the panels avaialable from NPD are exact duplicates, so that's where I'll be ordering another set from. Now I'm stuck with a pair of new panels I don't want or need.

HH
