Would the 16x7 5 lug on 4.5 bolt pattern wheels work for my 72 mach 1? They are the wheels from the non-gt 05 mustang and my friends dad owns a salvage yard and says he can get me some pretty cheap. Thanks for any help! Bryce

It's the right lug pattern, just not sure what the back spacing is. See if he'll let you take one home to try it on.

5 on 4.5 pattern is what your 72 is. So the only thing left is if they fit the back spacing or not.

If it's too much back spacing, then yes you'll need spacer to help push the rim out alittle. If it's not enough the rims will stick out to much and not look right.

I wouldn't use a spacer just to use V6 rims. The 17" rims on 05's have quite a bit more backspace than the previous years so i'd think the 16" base model ones would too. Probably 5 1/2" backspace on the 7" rims where 4" backspace would be right for a 72.

I tried my Centerlines on a customers 71 fastback, the 16x9" front and 16 x 10" rears, all with 5" backspace fit perfectly.
