I don't think the horses were in the 1/4 panels, they were in the fenders.------------------ William 68 Coupe "Is it a WANT, or a NEED???"

I think you are referring to the round medallion with the black center and the running horse that goes on the upper portion of the quarter panel near the roofline, also know as the sail panel. Is this correct? If so the original medallions mounted on two studs that had a 'T' shaped head. You can replicate this with a special rivit and the accompanying special tip that goes in a pop-rivit gun. They were fairly common for the era before body moldings all went to the glued-on double-sided tape method. One source of the rivits and the tip is AUVECO products. Body shop should be familiar with that. Scott [This message has been edited by whiteknight289 (edited 03-05-2005).]

The 1/4 on a coupe/vert have a finned vent with a chrome E looking piece. The sportsroof got a scoop and a few had a round emblem of the rear posts.------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" SO SORRY 69 Mach1 sportsroof but the "T" or nail type is what I was guessing but along the same line does the reproduction medalions also attach the same way as the originals or by some other means? and what about the MUSTANG letters on the deck lid so far I have been led to believe that the reproduction letters are 2 - sided tape rather than the original barrel nuts (the deck lid was done the same way .....brazed up holes) thanks to all for the info

Right up my alley Dennis. I've got my original '69 Mach I sitting in the garage. The roof medallion does attach to the "nail" type devices on the roof pillar. If you need dimensions and location let me know. Stick on letters on the deck lid - I don't think so. I'm missing one letter but they definitely have two studs on the back of the letter going into the trunk lid. Don't think there are nuts that go on them just those spring tensioner type things (how's that for technical terms?) that slip over the stud and hold it to the trunk lid. Hope this helps. ------------------ SkinnyMan Tupelo, MS Thank you, Thank you very much!

Original trunk letters were pinned on with (spring tensioner type things) barrel nuts. Reproduction m-u-s-t-a-n-g letters are available in either the pin-on style or the stick-on style. If they welded the holes on your trunk lid it might be difficult to get the holes accurately drilled, plus the pin-on letters can vary in the location of the pin. I'd suggest the stick-on type. It will be easier to align them so they don't look wacky. Scott
