Trying to ID some heads I pulled off a 351W. They have D0OE (think its a D0OE-B), 302 amongst other numbers and letters scattered on both sides of the heads. Is the date under the valve covers? I see 1H10 that makes me think its Aug 10th, 1971------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

Those should be 70 heads. The date code is on the underside of the head near the ends.------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

They should be but theyre not. They dont have the L shaped water passages, they say 302 under the valve covers and it looks like the head boltholes were drilled or reamed to fit the 351 head bolt. I have to say that the holes are very noticeable that it wasnt a professionally done job. There is D0OE near one of the ends under the head but in the valve train valley there is 1H10 cast there. I dont see anything that looks like a date on the bottom side. ------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

Sorry Ed, I didn't pick up on the the fact you said it's has a cast that says 302. Then it's not a 351w head at all. The D0 Heads can be a 71 too.------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

So does anyone know where the date is located? All the books I have show a close-up shot of the date but never mention where this date is located.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

Well they're just some 302 "Torino" heads somebody forced to fit a 351W. They sound pretty close to worthless since the bolt holes have been very unprofessionally made oversize. Even if they were in good condition, plain old '70 302 heads are still worth very little. True D0OE 351W heads are still worth something since they have larger valves and are not drilled for the Thermactor smog stuff. Though they are way outclassed by almost any aftermarket aluminum head you care to look at. Why so much concern over the exact date? The brake pedal pad on my 1985 F150 has 1965 part number on the back of it. As does every single other Ford truck made between 1965 and 1996. If Ford had no real reason to change a particular part, it was just carried over to the next year and sometimes beyond.

Just want to know where the date codes can be found. I think the heads are obviously nothing special other than being an early 70s Ford 302 head.------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55

So for future reference are the date codes under the valve covers or on the block side of the heads and are they always in the same location?------------------ Ed S. 68 S-code FB GT 4spd(now C6)/3.25 PS PDB 68 J-code(now 289) Cp Sprint"B" C4/3L00-9" PDB PS AC Bla-Bla-Bla 99 F150 XLT Ext/cab, 4X4, 5.4L, 3L55
