I am moving from single exhaust to dual and changing the rubber parts of my drum brakes to braided stainless. I purchased the 3 braided stainless lines (NPD #2078-10), the 3 brake lines for dual exhaust (NPD #2267-01 2-rear, NPD #2265-22 front to back)and the bracket (NPD #2A051-2A) to to relocate the rear axle flexible hose for dual. The problem is that I don't see how it all goes together. Specifically the relocate bracket. It is just a bent piece of metal with 2 holes in it. I have talked to a couple of people at NPD, no joy. They did give me the number of the manufacturer and the woman I talked to went and asked someone, then came back and said to use a sheet metal screw to attach it to "an L shaped depression on the floor pan behind the back seat". I don't have one of those. Anyone have a pic of the setup with these brake lines and bracket? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi sprcoop. If you did the modification on a 64 1/2 to a 66 Mustang, check this article. Might help you.

If they sell the part they should know more than that about it. The part is advertised in the NPD catalog and is a nice reproduction of the real piece, even with the dog eared edge. On a real GT or Fact dual exhaust car, that bracket would have been spotwelded on. There are two raised ridges in the floor metal that dictate where the bracket should be placed. It is sort of L shaped. This would have been done to facilitate proper location of the piece during production. Mounted the new piece in my C code 66 cv as indicated and put two 1/4-20 bolts through it into the floor with fender type washers on the inside.

Inorder to make the dual exh install correct, also ordered a pair of the exhaust hanger brackets that mount behind the rear back seat. Another nice repop.
In the Fact. dual exhaust cars 65-68, I believe,(maybe later) the floor was reinforced in this area with another thickness of floor. This piece would be damn hard to fake! This was done to keep the exhaust movement on the rubber insulator from tearing the floor. I made a small plate to fasten on the backside for this reason. Then, of course, were the exhaust hangers at the very rear of car with the reinforcement inside the frame rail. Another area that would be very difficult to replicate!! Installed the GT style hangers in the rear with bolts using a small pneumatic angle grinder with a drill bit. A PITA installation! To get a view of the GT exhaust system brackets, it can be seen in the 66 shop manual.

Rino, It is a 66' and that is exactly what I was looking for. Those pic's are worth more than a 1000 words. I was looking for something a little more obvious to show where the bracket goes. Now I know where to look and how the new brake lines are supposed to be run. Thanks!

Mellow, I thought they should know more also and that is why I called several times to get different people. The small hole is probably supposed to be for the spot weld. Since I am not worried about trying to make anyone believe this was a factory dual exhaust car I am letting the reputable muffler shop take care of the extra hangers. Sounds like it would cost a fortune to have anyone do as nice a job as you did!

Ed, since the order came out of CA that is where I called. Why? Have you had better luck with the NCarolina, Florida or Michigan locations?

Thanks to All!!!

Well, it wasn't easy and the bracket didn't end up in the "L" but it looks pretty good. The front to rear brake line from NPD did not end up over far enough to put it there and I didn't want to completely rebend the new brake lines. How much can you rebend new steel (not stainless) brake lines before you screw them up or make them weak? I also had to add a LOT more bend to the bracket to get the flexible line connection at the correct angle. If it hadn't been for the picture that Rino pointed me at I would still be in the garage getting no where. Thanks again!

Hate to play Devil's Advocate but did you order a dual exhaust front to rear line? The one I got from classic tube went right to the junction where the new bracket was installed so that the new dual exhaust rubber line coming from diff and the line could be joined. It was a matter of a small amount of tweaking but I had enough line to reach without prob.

Mellow, yep I ordered the 3 line set to complete the front to rear (NPD #2265-22 front to back) and 2 axle lines (NPD #2267-01) for dual exhaust. In order to have the front to rear line end up at the "L" I would have had to completely redo the two 90 degree bends that make the line go from the tunnel to the drivers side then down to the bracket per the picture found by Rino. I used stainless braided instead of the rubber but that just meant that I had to tweak the size of the hole in the bracket and old clip to get the stainless junction to fit.
