I just put a brand new World Class T5z transmission in my 66 coupe and when I drove it for the first time the other day it grinds when I put in in reverse. My old 3 speed used to do that to me but I figured this is a brand new tranny! Now is this my synchros that are making the grinding noise? And is this normal? Please help me.

sounds like to me that your clutch isnt releasing quite enough. or maybe the clucth plate is werped a little. it has a manual linkage, not a slave cyl., right?

Your 3-speed tranny grinding a little into reverse is normal.

IIRC the T5Z does not have reverse synchros either, so it may do the same thing. Drop the trans into 5th, then go for reverse. It'll stop any of the gears that may be spinning in the tranny and reduce or eliminate the grind. Check your linkage for proper adjustment as well, just because....
