Hello friends, I started to restore my spare tire rim which I beleive has the original firestone safety champions tires that look like the,ve never met the pavement. When I started wet sanding the rim- this red paint started to appear. Red is the original color of the car. I was wondering if any of you all could tell me if they originally painted the rims to match the car.
Thanks,
John

Dog dish hubcaps did not appear until 1968. Those "uglified" wheels were color keyed to match the car....giving it a 50's stripped down business coupe look. A styling setback!
