Soon after I decided to go out for a quick drive with my father my new old Mustang decided to spray & smoke the universe with tranny fluid. Smoke was flowing and by the time we rode the 9 miles back home must of the fluid was gone. Needles to say - it is not shifting. I just bought a new modulator valve which I plan to install tomorrow or Sunday. I am not even sure that I am on the right track. Any insight into this mess?------------------ Ricky 1970 Convertible-302-Auto

I had a line split on my 68 with a C4,local tranny shop bent a new line for less than 30 bucks and installed.

OK I found the leak. It seems to be the front seal area of the transmission. It is between the trans and the engine. It was rebuilt in 11/2003 so it is out of the 90 days warranty. What kind of expenses should I expect? I am trying to keep my excitement level high after 23 days of ownership.------------------ Ricky 1970 Convertible-302-Auto [This message has been edited by Rickyrod1 (edited 05-24-2004).]

Get on the phone, start calling around. Ask how much it would be to replace the front seal. (That's what you need.) You'll be surprised at how much different estimates will run.Avoid those places with the Big Yellow Pages Ads and multiple locations. Those stores pay hefty franchise fees, and you'll be supplementing that cost! I'd suggest doing it yourself, but it involves removing the transmission...
