Another "dummy" question for you all. So my saginaw steering box had a bad leak a year ago and I came to the conclusion a seal went bad. I then bought one off ebay for cheap. It supposedly worked great at the time and came off a wrecked mustang of the same year. It was the same model saginaw. Now that it's installed, theres a terrible whining sound. At low rpm's especially. I'm pretty sure I bled the air out correctly just by turning wheel pin to pin many times however.... Also, I replaced the hoses and pump prior to the box and things were great. Any ideas?
Thanks again, Herb

Whiney p/s pumps are a Ford curse I've never found the remedy to, except for removal.

OK, here's a trick that works for me.
First of all, did you use type "F" transmission fluid in the system?
If so follow this proceedure.
Go to your local FLM dealer and pick up a bottle of friction modifier.
Jack the front of the car up so the wheels are off the ground.
Drain off or siphon a half pint or so of fluid.
Start the car.
Begin cycling the system by turning the wheel lock to lock vigorously several times.
Add the friction modifier and repeat the cycling until the whine subsides. Top of the fluid and the whine will eventually go away.
