Can some one just give me some advice and tips. On changing out my center link and tie rods both inner and outter. I can get some tools to get the old parts off. But I'm not sure of where to messure the tires to get it close until I can take it to a shop.
Also should the tie rods and center link have the car on the ground or jacked up when I thighten them up ?

I may be able to help. This is an old trick we used to use. Take a string and a wire bend the wire into a hook tie the string to the wire place the hook on the rear leaf spring behind the tire make sure the srting is in the center and contacting both side walls of the rear tire line the string up
with the frt.tire adjust the tie rods as needed. I would take off the tie rods as an assy. and replace as a unit this should be close enough for the string trick. Make sure the car has weight on it while using the string. Hope this helps and I have explained it well enough.

Mark a chalk line down the center of your tread, all the way around. Do this on both tires. Use a stick (broomstick?) long enough to reach across the front of both tires. Helps to put a nail thru the stick as a 'accurate' pointer. Measure across the front of the tire, then measure across the back of the tire. If the front is shorter you have toe-in. Measure with the tires on the ground.
