Guys, I recently heard that if I used synthetic gear oil, I won't need the friction modifier for trac-locks. Is this true? Also, what weight oil is preferred- 90 wt? Thanks, Daniel

Daniel from what Alex has said "85w-140w" Don't add any friction modifier if you want to use it more for racing. It will grab better without it.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Thanks! It's going in my daily driver, so I'll probably add the modifier. Any ideas about the synthetic lube not needing the modifier? Daniel

I'd be inclined to just start out with the synthetic only, and add the modifier if chattering was a problem. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

My book says 5 pints of SAE 90 for temperatures above 25*F or SAE 80 below 25*F It also specifies 1 ounce of C1AA-19B546-A limited slip additive per pint of gear lube. {In other words 5 ounces} ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip
