I know low-profile rally packs were available in both 6000 and 8000 RPM...
I have an A-code 289- which tach should I get and how high can I safely rev my engine?

A-codes came from the factory with the 6000 tach. Over the parts counter you could have bought the 8000 tach. For an un-modified A-code 289, the 6000 tach is sufficient. but if you are going to rely on the dependability of the tach for serious driving, get an Auto-meter
