Have a 351w early with a 9.5 deck height.
i replaced the gt-40 heads with a set of machined 289 heads to increse compression. and provide larger valves.
am getting a bad water leak between 289 heads and Edelbrock 351w performer intake
am hearing i can do this am hearing i cannot.. ???

If that block has been decked or those heads been milled you may in fact have alignment issues. Try Fel Pro #1250, follow the sequence in the directions

Your intake may need to be milled as well.

Don't use the end gaskets in the intake set. If the heads have been milled very much the end gaskets will hold the manifold too high. Just put a bead of silicon sealer on both ends.
