I know that painless has a wiring harness for the 65-66 mustand but not one for the 68. They do however have an updated wiring harness for general apps. Would I be able to use this 'general' wiring harness in my 68? I want to update my fuse box and since the car was outdoors and it had families of mice and squirrels living in it, I'm tearing it down completely. Or should I just use their updated fuse box and tie my existing wires into it? I'm just not sure of wiring that is 26 years old and weathered.

If you have the time and place do all the wiring.
If everything works good now, then just update the fuse box.

I don't know if it works. But will the painless general wiring work?

I am about to install the 18 circuit painless fuse block in my 65 coupe.I have been tracing wires and looking over wiring diagrams to make sure I know what goes where before I start cutting wires. The fuse block is alot larger than the original.I am going to mount the new fuse block up inside the dash between the glove box and the radio out of the way. That is just about the only place where there is room for easy access. The part number of the new block is 30003.It should work for you also.Good Luck

Hi, I have just finished building and fitting a complete custom wiring loom in my 66 coupe. As I live in England, there are not many aftermarket kits available over here. I used a 12 way fuse box. I took a set of wiring diagrams off the web, altered them and colour coded them. I relayed the headlights, horn, and ignition switch. I also fitted a couple of 40amp fuses under the hood to protect the complete loom. If you are interested in the diagrams I can load them up on to my site and set a link up (fairly big down loads). You may have to alter them to suit your application a little.

I would like to take a look at what you've done. I never turn down an opportunity to learn something new.

I looked online and the price is still at $165. It looks like that's the way I'll be going. Thanks.

Hi, well have got the files posted, they are in tiff form, so the colours stay true. If you follow the link you should find them. Wiring Diagrams I have not posted the one for the lights as I altered the drawing on the paper print out, and have not had time to up date the version on the computer, as soon as I do I will post that one as well.

Thanks, I'll get this printed out and put in the repair manual. You must have put some time into color coding the wiring. Looks good and pretty easy to read.

Hi, I have not stuck strictly to the original colours, so they may not all match up to your wiring. Also I have got rid of the remote regulator from the alternator so the wiring there will be different. Another item I have not fitted is the amp meter I have changed to a volt meter.

I'm sure I'll have to make a lot of adjustments. I have a 68 and I use the wiring diagrams as a point of reference and not a bible. Thanks for getting them for me though. I really appreciate it.
