Can anyone tell me the difference in the rubber brake hose and block on the rear axle for dual exhaust (GT). I think I've heard the block is mounted on the side instead of the top of the axle housing? I have the correct dual exhaust steel line installed in the bracket but am not sure about the block mounting and hose length. The car is a '66 coupe and formerly had single exhaust and I want to change it to dual.

I've got questions about that block too. Mine is inline between the left and right brake lines, but isn't attached. How does that thing attach and where should the hose go? I've got a 9" in mine if it makes any difference.

MM was factory dual exhaust, but not a GT. It was also a factory 9 inch car.I'm not 100% certain about GT's with 8 inch rears, and trumpet exhaust tips, but 9 inch Hipo cars had a strap attatching the block that was tack welded to the housing near the center. I made a bracket that goes under the top bolt on the carrier and hooks over the top. Bolted the brass block to that. Its not pretty but it works. Bending the brake lines around all the ladder bar brackets was way more fun then I wanted to have....

The splitter block is tacked to a strap, and secured by the differential vent nipple IIRC ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 02-20-2004).]

There is two parts to this, the axle junction block and the angle bracket where the hard line from the front and the rubber hose connect. On single exhaust cars the angle bracket was close to the driveshaft tunnel, on dual exhaust cars it was mounted closer to the left frame rail. The brass junction block for single was mounted on top of the axle tube, dual exhaust was attached to a steel strap and located in front of the axle housing. Both were held in place with the vent tube. ------------------ Mike Golliver MCA Gold Card Judge-Modifieds 65 Kcode coupe 347 stroker modified 5-speed MCA Retired 66 convertible-3 dueces and a 5-speed with a 289 89 T-Bird Super coupe 01 Mustang GT Convt
