All 8" and larger rear ends have 5 lug (or more) hubs to my knowledge. Maybe you could have a pair of axles re-drilled for a four lug pattern?------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

I brought up this question a while back and was informed that some of the MustangII's with v6's had 8" 4 lug. you may have to move the spring perches though. Guys? anyone want to confirm or deny that?, because I'm not sure.------------------ http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

The 71 Mavrick I got my 8" rear out of had 4 lug axles. I only used the center section, but it was more easy just to take the whole rear end home.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. You can not use a four lug from anything but a Maverick. All the other 4 lugs have the wrong bolt pattern that you will need to match your front. This is what you need to look for:Maverick 70-75 The diff. tag should read: WDV-J = 2.83:1 WDY-K = 3.08:1 WDV-L = 3.2:1 WDW-M = 2.79:1 WDW-L = 3:1 WDW-T = 2.79:1 WDW-U = 3:1 WFS-C = 3:1 Remember to install new seals and replace gaskets. Also, if you ever want to change to a 5-lug all you would have to do is pull the axles and brakes. ------------------ Marco S. from what i read it should bolt right up the later the rear i belive the mounts for the leaf springs have to be moved maybe not but if i got a rear from an early mav like 1970 then it would bolt right up the rears are about 3/4 of an inch longer so there shouldnt be any problems at all.------------------ 1966 mustang coupe 200ci 3 speed tranny msd 6a ignition, blaster 2 coil, 2 inch exhaust to a glass pac, stock rear, single out header, cold air intake (homemade). white w/ black interior

There are two very different 4 lug rears for a 70 Maverick be sure you get the one listed above. The easiest way to know is if the rear has a chuck or a center plate like a chevy.

The 4 lug 8 inch rearend was also used in Pinto's.Not all of them but I had a couple, one had a manual tranny the other was a station wagon. If I remember right the bolt circle is 4 1/4 on 4 instead of the old ford 4 1/2 on 4.I had some mags on my 63 falcon that would accomadate either bolt pattern. Also the pumpkin interchanges so watch for the pinto/mustang IIs at junkyards for some different gear ratio's.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html
