this would be for a 200 ci application. take an defroster duct plastic piece on a 65 66 mustang and mount it to the fire wall. well first you must drill a hole in the fire wall for air access and then mount it. then use flexable tubing for air ducts and use a piece just long enough to connect the air cleaner to the fire wall. slip the tubing over the air cleaner and the defroster duct and fasten with wire ties. will the air be able to get through the tubing enough when ideling.

I am not familiar with 65-66, but 67-68 have two slots in radiator suppport in front of battery. If 65-66 is similar, relocate battery to trunk, cut piece out between slots for one large opening, fabricate a collector box with a round collar to attach round duct. I don't think heater tubing would be large enough, and would offer resistance due to the fact that it is not that smooth inside. Find a larger, smoother flex (like the aluminum flex they attatch to air filter snokels for the choke) I think that would work better. Good luck.

You've probably seen this setup, I think I've seen you over at the fordsix forum, but here's the link anyway to Mustang_Geezers Ram Air setup. He did a good job, has a nice look to it.

The problem you're still going to be faced with though is that the log intake is still so restrictive.

You can try Mustang Geezer's or there might still be some pics of my old setup on my webpage.

I wouldn't go through the firewall into the cowl vent area.I've heard of guys doing this and you get fumes in the interior of the car through the heater and defroster vents.

I don't see how mounting anything on the firewall will create a "ram" effect. The air intake has to be outside the car, facing forward, to benefit from the car's forward movement forcing air in.
I've thought about running the flexible tube down below the battery mount and spreading out into a wider, thinner piece just below the valence panel.
Also, MidLifCrisis, are you confusing the firewall with the radiator support?

OK, I get the idea! Cut a hole in your firewall so air is forced by the windshield into the cowl vents and into the air intake!
Yikes! I think the setup at that link above is MUCH better.

Ooops... senior moment. YES, I meant the radiator support.

Also, all the Nascar racecars duct the air cleaners through the firewall to draw air from the cowl area. That's where cowl induction hoods get their air, due to a high pressure area at the base of the windshield at speed.

Also, I think it's March that offers a ram air system for the late models that uses a long thin scoop at the bottom of the air dam to draw air into the filter box. Excellent source of air.

Charlie

Just linked the web-site. This is along the lines of what I was suggesting. Very clean install. Nice job. Charlie
