this question might make me seem iresponsible but i try to take care of my 66 coupe everyday . when i first got it i checked the oil im guessing it was just after the car was turned off. bc about three days later i got a very loud ticking noise from the motor. i checked the oil when it didnt run for a while and i was about three quarts of oil low in the pan. so i called my friend to bring me some oil bc i didnt want to drive it till i had oil. now i know theres is no way in hell 3 quarts can disappear in 3 days so. now i check it once a week along with every other thing on the car. i asked my girlfriends father who is a mechanic and he said it was a sticky lifter is that what is it and if so how do i get rid of it? drove with the lifter sticky for about three days also. i tried the lucas oil stablizer and it didnt really work. any ideas? something loose?

Unless there's a huge puddle of oil under your car, or the underside of your car looks like an oil slick, that is frighteningly fast oil consumption Check the underside of the car first, look for any signs of oil loss. Then, pull all 8 sparkplugs and look for one or more that is all loaded up with slimey black goo. Time for a compression test. Wet and dry each cylinder and record readings Wet is with a shot of 5w30 from an oil can before you crank the motor over. If you don't know how to do a compression test Give me a call or email with your ph# I have regional calling to 215 area codes which is free.
