Well, I dropped my 66 Fastback off at the bodyshop to get the finish body work and paint on Saturday. Now, I've got to tell him what color !!! It's a C-code Fastback, so there's no push to make it the original color (Vintage Burgandy), which I don't really care for that much. I'd like to go with a Blue, but most that I've seen have blue interiors and mine is black. I'm sort of leaning towards the Pepper Grey from Gone in 60 s. This car is going to be nice but not a show car by any stretch, just a nice driver is what I'm shooting for. Anyone have any pics of fastbacks that are done in a med. silver grey or charcoal grey ? I can only find one, and it's only the front end shot. Also, go ahead and give me your favorite color for the 65-66 fastbacks ....... but no poppy red for me ...... They look great, but every other one is painted that color. This is one of the really fun parts of the resto !!!------------------ Alan 66 Fastback

Hello, If it isnt for show and is to be a driver, why not go with the Blue that you want? Black interior will not look bad on a blue car in my opinion. May not be a factory match up, but if its the color you like, thats what matters isnt it? If you really like the blue.. I say go for it If your happy with it, thats all that matters.Sincerely, NewRider

Blue with black interior looks great together. My 70 Swinger has the color combo. Our 69 Mustang with be silver with black. The best thing about black interior is that it goes with any exterior color. When I started thinking about colors for the Mustang, I looked at cars on the road to give me ideas.------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" Its your car, if you like blue, then go with it. I painted mine BMW Montreal Blue (car was originally dark green metallic). It also has a black pony interior and the color combo looks great!

Thanks for all the input guys. I think that I'm going to stay with the pepper grey with some black side stripes. That's the problem with this whole process, too darn many choices !!!! I think the old fastbacks look good in almost any color you choose, unless you really go nuts like green with a red interior ....... although, that would still work at Christmas time, wouldn't it ?------------------ Alan 66 Fastback

I like the primer black look of yours, it gives it that form follows function look which just looks nice. Also,My two tone primer wasn't planned. I do have thoughts of going blue, or maybe a nice gloss black someday. There's a program out there that cost a ton of money that lets you take a picture of your car and then play with color schemes in a 3d inviroment. I would love to have that program.------------------ http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang [This message has been edited by adragon8u (edited 01-27-2004).]

If the primer black didn't fade I'd just run it that way for ever. But the wife and family keeps telling me to paint it. So they went out and paid for one. So now I have to paint it. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

I'm not a body man, but I couldn't imagine not painting the door jambs and trunk area. Until they are already prefect, which they never are.

Personaly I think a dark blue/purpleish color looks sweet there is a 67 only about 30 minutes away from me with that color (I dont know that name of it for car paint) but thats just my personal preference a nice dark dark purple never looks bad on a muscle car IMO.

I know of a 68 Fastback that was originally Bullitt green with green interior and it was painted red 20 years ago. I have been trying to buy this car for the last 2 years it is a J code GT with a 4 speed and is just rotting away. People had some weird colors in mind years agao. If you like blue piant it blue.
