in order to paint my dash i had to remove the instrument bezel. well i didnt worry about labeling the wires bc i had the wiring diagram box so when i go to hook it back up all my gages went wack. i turn the key on and every gauge goes all the way up except the voltage gauge. i was thinking it could be the voltage regulator on the back not sure. im pretty sure that all the gauges are beign grounded thats why its doing it but the ground wire gets screwed in with the regulator. so im not sure any ideas? thanks. Sounds like a ground. A bad VR usually results in dead gauges.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

like the lense thingy is being grounded right? bc when i checked to make sure my gas gauge was working i grounded the wire to make it go all the way up like its doing now. and the gauges are all connected to the back of the bezel which is all metal and there is a ground wire going to it that i thought was supposed to be there. i will play with it more today any other ideas let me know.thanks steve

66 coupe , now see thats the diagram i have and it is all hooked up like the pic says but like the other guy said the switches are being grounded i think . i want to take the ground wire off and see if they work but then the lights wont work when i turn them one bc thats what the ground is for right? or theres a double ground maybe.[This message has been edited by trashline (edited 01-22-2004).]

Maybe just go back and double/triple check your connections. there are alot of wires and it's easy to get a couple wrong.------------------ http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

ok i pulled apart my entire cluster and i have the individual gauge in my hand it still goes all the way up. do you think it is possible when i first hooked it up that i put a wrong wire on and zapped the gauges ? so now they dont work? i even unplugged the fuel gauge wire from the tank and it went down they just dont read the right reading . i just got off the phone with a local mustang place and he says he thinks i burned out my voltage regulator. the problem is if i order it and thats not it im gonna be pissed and second plus its an electronic part and i cant return it ugg, now i just went out and eliminated the voltage regulator touched the power wire from that to the gauge (thats not touching anything else) so obviously i burned up all my gauges they all just peg to the right like the gas tank is stuck but then i do it to the temp and the same thing happens gosh darn it[This message has been edited by trashline (edited 01-22-2004).] [This message has been edited by trashline (edited 01-22-2004).]
