I've got a 302 with 351 heads in my '65 fastback. I've been looking for the engine codes for months and finally ran across numbers right above the starter. They are "D1ZE 8150". Am I correct in assuming that it's a '71 302?

Never mind. I found documentation about it online. It is a '71 block from a Mustang.

Hmm. Interesting. So the "D1ZE" indicates the exterior and interior colors as well?

No, we were just joking.

The D1 is '71, Z is Mustang, E is engine.

I thought so. I'm going to do some research on the history of the car soon and try to get in touch with previous owners. The guy who owned it 2 owners ago did all of the work to it. He dropped in the 302, a 9" rear with 4:11s, and put in Shelby quarter windows. I'm learning more about this car every day. Some things I like learning, other things I wish I hadn't learned. hehe
