I have a shelby 66 hood. And just put my engine in I know it was going to be close. I have about half inch clearance. If it was a stock hood it would not fit.

I have seen a 65-66 convert with a stock hood and Paxton. It has been awhile, so I don't remember details, but using the stock low rise 4-barrel intake without the PCV plate, I would think it should fit under a stock hood. What intake are you using? Charlie

MM's fit fine with a stock hood using a C90X intake. That was with an original early FoMoCo/Shelby/Paxton bonnet.
There were some pics posted here somewhere.

my engine builder went to the 2003 sema show . And paxton had a 65 I think with a stock intake with the hood up. He asked about the intake that he was puting on my car. And paxton told him that a stock hood would not fit. But I have a 66 shelby hood. So when the engine was done I had to check it out. Guy's it's close. I'm trying to remember what intake I have. eld. ploshied cant remember the part #

I have a paxton on my 67 GT350, and you can see the top of the paxton thru the hood scoop....a friend had one on a 67 convertible, and I believed it cleared...it had to be very close....

Thanks Blue.
At that time I was still using re-enforced OEM 65 289 HIPO mounts, which do sit about 1/2 inch lower than the 66 and up mounts.

Alex I've always read that the 66 mounts sit lower, but your saying the 65 mounts sit lower or it just the HiPo 65 mounts that sit lower then the 66's ? Boy I sure do know how to make a mess of a question.

Does anyone know how much lower the stock 66 mounts are then the stock 65 mounts. I think my 351w would fit better if it sat alittle lower.

Mine now has the motor plate with two holes and that bolts to what looks like a C shape piece and that has one stud going down into the frame mount.
