If your springs are not broken, leave them alone! They are already broken in. Your spring perches are probably junk and should be replaced. Get in tough with me for some replacments with greasable bronze bushings. I'll do that My car now leans to one side. I've norrowed it down to the front springs. I have a 1/2" spacer on the lower side which helps keep the car more level. Could it be the perches or the spacer pads, or the just the coils make it lower on one side. And no it's not the drivers side because of my fat butt. ------------------ SCOOP

Re: replacing perches. I'm sure the ones Alex has are killer, so my experiences are just a footnote. The price of original perches went through the roof here in the last couple of years. Stocks simply dried up. NPD and others do repros at a fraction of the price. Or ... and this is the kicker ... my parts store has started restoring original ones, and it's really quite easy and cheap. Just a question of pushing in new bushings.

If your car leans in the front, you may have a problem with one of the stock springs. I would have someone check them out to see if they are both OK. There should be a local spring shop that could tell you if they are OK. I'm guessing that Alex wanted you to use the stock ones for drag racing, if you want it to handle better you might want some a little stiffer? Just something to think about. Maybe Alex has some good used ones?Ernie ------------------ Have a Wonderful Day CandyApple 65 Fastback 351W, Hooker Super Comps,4 Speed Versaille 9" Rear End Global West Front End [email protected] http://photo.starblvd.net/Ekbeanctr

SCOOP, My car leaned, I replaced both springs and perches and its level now. The spring perches have a bushing in that always wears out, and that may be part of it. I would do both perches and springs and get a GT type spring thats a little heavier and will accept the slightly heavier 351. I think with the aluminum heads though it may almost weigh same as stock anyway. If you want to save money leave the springs in there and see if the perches fix the lean, then if they dont you can go back later. By the way I have set of polybushes for the perches (at least for a 67-68 perch which I think is the same) and im not using them. I couldnt be bothered to find someone with a press to install them. $20 value, I could let them go for $5 plus shipping. I thought removing springs would be an awful job but once you get used to it its easy. I can swap both springs in less than an hour now. ------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

Probably would weigh the same if not less with Aluminum heads, intake and tube headers.

I would change them both and you can use a stock style or go stiffer, maybe even a progressive rate one. ------------------ 69 393W Sportsroof Deluxe

Thanks for all the good advice. My is more for drag racing and cruising. Not for road racing, so I'd like to keep my well worn shocks and try some of Alex's spring perches out. If that does not fix it then I'll try some new stock springs. It does amaze me how well my car does handle with no sway bar and 90-10 front shocks.------------------ SCOOP "It is the fight itself that keeps you young" 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc.
