I'm in the middle of my first rebuild and wondering the correct color of a 70 windsor motor the light blue or dark blue. At shows I've seen both Which is correct ? Thanks

P.S. I hope it is the lighter blue It would look better in my Mach 1

Then that's the correct color.

Not trying to be a SA but unless your Mustang is going to be concourse correct you should paint the engine any color you like.

Your engine must be a '69 351W. They started to use the 351C for 1970. The correct color for the '69 351W is dark blue. Send me the casting number on the block and I can tell you for sure.

I painted my engines light Ford blue for a while, and they always seemed dingey to me. Dark Ford blue looks a lot newer a lot longer.

They used both 351Ws and 351C for the H codes from '70 on, depending on availability. The 351Cs were in the vast majority, but they still used 351Ws when they had to.
