I`m going to buy a new carb.I think that Holley wins out about being the best carb. There is one thing that bothers me. A lot of people has said if you are using your car for the street buy a edelbrock. If you use it for street and track buy a holley. Why is there a difference? Is it the gas mileage? Also I am leaning towards a Holley street avenger 670. Would this work good for me? As soon as the UPS man brings them I will have 165 AFR`s to go with my set up.Thanks,Tony------------------ http://ourworld.cs.com/blagintony/myhomepage/auto.html 86-302 HO bored .030 over crank .010 under, B-303 cam ,harland sharp roller rockers, performer rpm intake, 625 carter 66-289 heads, ported with 160-194 valves, 3 angle valve job, 4 speed toploader, granada disc brakes, 85 duraspark ignition, pony interior, the who,the doors, and ccr full blast on the stereo [This message has been edited by 66bluefb (edited 12-17-2003).]

It all boils down to the fact that the Edelbrock {and the Autolite} has no gaskets below fuel level so they don't leak fuel like the Holley and Demons will. The Holley is much more tunable, which may be a good thing or a bad thing, all depending on the tuner's skills. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

I have the edelbrock, and I concur with what steve said. its like a "fisher Price" carb. its design allows easy tuning because you dont have to do anything but pop off a cap and remove the rods. Leave the carb on the car and the fuel in the bowls while you mess with it. It runs great out of the box although some say that the holley will too.The street avenger I know nothing about but from its features it looks like it might be a pretty good carb. I probably would have bought one but I wasnt patient enough to wait and bought what was available at the local store. Alex and other racers say that the edelbrock doesnt mix fuel as well as the holley or transition from idle-primary-secondary as well so holleys are better for all out performance. I think if you tune them right there shouldnt be much difference in gas mileage (assuming equal CFM, and Air fuel mixture). ------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

My opinion is the 670 holley would be a great carb for you. It comes with all the little tunrer ad on's that holley makes. Like Steve the holley is only as good as you are. But I did it, with the help of these guys and good holley tuning book. My father inlaw runs and loves the E-brock and Qjet carbs. Says nothing but nothing is better ofr the street.------------------
