Update on the bodywork it just got more extensive and expensive. Rear frame rails starting to rot around the shackle monts and the pass side inner rocker. Another 1300 bucks. I love the car but.....

I'll have some things to put back in rear trim and seats tailights and such as I went to a 68 shelby taillight panel and decklid. Some thin to do while the weather still sucks here in eastern Pa.

Another 4 weeks or so till it is done. I hope! Rear frame rails are done taillightpanel is in right side quarter is on inner rocker on pass side done. Drivers side quarter next the final fit and primer then paint. Looks decent so far. Body shop Bob figured out that the car probably got the cowl and roof damage from a hood that popped open at speed. It won't ever be perfect (not in the budget)though. I am having Mustang and NASCAR withdrawels for the last few weeks. I go out to the shop and sheck the progress every few days, keeps me going I guess. I will have a nice scrap book of the resto I will post some soon of the in process if interested anyone?

Looking Good!!!!!!! I feel your paint though, what was the name of that old song? Anticipation. Mine is painted yellow and color sanded except for the hood. Still needs the lower blackout, hood needs painting, and entire car needs buffed and reassembled with the stripes put on. I am hoping for the end of this month, but I drove by the shop today and it was sitting outside all day. I try to only go by every two or three days to keep from being a pest. Tomorrow is one of my days to visit.

I was debating on the 67 or 68 hoods. I love the way the 68 hood scoops are close to the front but I may have issues with aircleaner clearance, this one seems to work out nicely. I think Im going to install a honeycomb insert in the scoop openings, Keep the Rice Burners from being sucked down the scoop!!D:

I don't worry about the ricers, but those small dogs and kids are real hard to clean out of the K&N filter.

Really nice choice on the hood it looks great.

Any more pictures ?, any of the inside or the motor ?

They're like bugs on the windshield. Always were you don't need them and a pain in the a#$. I'm sure I'll see a bunch of them at Maple Grove this spring. Taking up space in the staging lanes.

10 days and back to my garage for a few days work. Door handles, some trim and the 68 Shelby taillight panel and sequencer wiring. Should be eventful. cutting a fresh taillight panel is not on my hit parade but it has to be done. I have to get it ready for the show in NE phila. I have heard rumors that Moneymaker may attend?

Tried that it doesn't work. Broken parts or not assembled correctly.

hey buddy car looks good. I was wondering what you did with your clutch linkage. I am putting a 302 with a t5 in a 67 and will probably have to custom fab some type of clutch linkage. Got any suggestions? thanks

4 100ths difference in time slips. Dad weighs 230lbs and "sprout" weighs 148lbs there's your better driver
13.39 to a 13.43 "SH2t sales man with a mouthfull of samples."

Clutch linkage is cable kit from Modern driveline. Works great and is pretty easy to install.
I used a latemodel bellhousing and latemodel clutch setup too.

Seems to me that an 80+ pounds difference should equate to 0.08 seconds difference in ET.... Sounds like to me that Dad IS the better driver - since the Sprout should be 0.08 seconds faster but is only 0.04 faster!

Looks like the 'To Do' list for the Sprout is getting longer..... Now he needs to:

1) Put some added work into correct spelling to improve his English grades;

2) Quit putting it off for tomorrow and get to learning the mechanical ability that Dad obviously has; and,

3) Review the basic dragracing "Mass in Motion" rules...namely, that most changes of 100# of mass will provide an 1/4mile ET change of 0.1 seconds.

Thanks for putting up the new pics Steve!
Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. We had some extra time spent lining up fenders and hood. Front valance and bumper filler are aftermarket and don't fit as well as NOS. I also should have bought a Ford Tooling RH fender instead of TAIWAN aftermarket crap! Looks 500% better than it used to. Thanks to you guys busting the kids balls about physics and such now his come back is "Wait till April at Maple Grove!" We'll see junior we'll see!

- April may be the chapter "exam" in driving the fresh hotrod, but will he put in the effort to "bring up his overall grades" between now and then is the bigger question... -- I'm sure he's got it in him !!! However - Beware Tom, he may try to fatten you up with dounuts & pizza !!

Ideally, all of this can be fun AND a learning experience for all involved!

GOOD LUCK!!
Ryan

Great color Tom, it looks a lot faster already.

You two sound like my dad and I, but my dads the one with the 5.0 that'll be chasing my tail lights.
I did get him some 3.55 gears for his 88GT this year so he doesn't have that excuse anymore.

I am a big fan of that color because it looks clean, shows the body lines well, and it's a period-correct color on top of it.

The 16x8 wheels from vintagewheelworks.com are going to just set our car off. Anybody ever get wheels from them? I know they sell blemished wheels for $650 for a set of 4.
