Is anyone running 16x8 (4.50 bs all around) on an otherwise stock '65-66 ?? Or do you really need to do the shelby drop and/or use the neg wedge kit ??

As far as rubber goes, I'd be doing 225/50/16 front and 245/50/16 rear.

thanks

Tom, thats exactly what I was thinking about. IIRC, Indyphil bought blems and he couldn't find any problems with them. I can't decide between the V40s and V45s though ...

I gotta think that fit might be a problem here.

Vintage wheels said to me (and I recommend calling them) that 67-68s find these an easier fit than the earlier cars. I have a 1 inch shelby drop and it did help but actually it still rubbed until I got the ride height up to more sane level. I blame the rub on the strange problem I have with having odd drum brakes. The passenger side (where the rub was) was stuck out further than the drivers side (which didnt rub at all)

If my 68 can have problems from a 1/4 inch worth of offset I gotta think that its going to be touch and go if you get them to fit in a 65. stiff springs and a good sway bar will help. It was always during cornering that I had the rub problems.

Good luck and be sure to let everyone know how you got on.

Vintage wheels are friendly but just like everyone they want to sell you some wheels. Be sure to ask if they are returnable and whether you can mount tires on them and still return them if they dont fit.

The Blems may be non returnable, but call them about that.

Phil,

Thanks for the info. On another site, there is a wheel chart that shows that you can supposedly run 16x8 (4.5 bs) on stock 65-66s with no issues. I've sent Vintage an email to be safe.

Nic

Im thinking its going to depend a little on ride height and tire design. Maybe brake drum offset was a problem for me but not for most. I Have my fingers crossed for you because they are awesome wheels - I love them
