You didnt specify which CFM you are looking at, or whether you want an electric choke etc...But regardless we have thrashed out this brand argument a lot on here. Holley seems to have the vote for best performance and tunability. Edelbrock (and Carter from which they are based) Are a bolt on and go carb, they are very reliable but simply not as good for outright performance. I have an edelbrock because it was available at the time, it also has no power valves to blow and childs play to change rods and jets to tune it. It works, never leaks, I like it. Demon, copy of Holleys design. Some say an "upgrade" others say its no better or even worse. hard for me to tell but many complaints have been aired about tech support. The older experience racers didnt "switch" from holley to demon so that may tell you that they are no better. My edelbrock is a 600CFM with vacuum secondaries and electric choke. Its about the right size for me and leaves me with a little growing room. 289/302 motors that get strong and need more carb go to a 650 holley. ------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm

Welcome to M&M Mr. Cunuck ! If you plan on just driving the car then the Edelbrock is a better and simple choice. If you want teh maximum performance, then you can't beat a Holley.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! im sure the 500 will "work" but if you plan on upgrading things in future (headers, intake, cylinder heads) then 600 would be good. There are calculators out there that take displacement and RPM and estimate CFM, and most of them say a healthy 289/302 need between 500 and 600CFM depending on how many mods you have. I went with 600 on a basically stock engine and the secondaries took a little too long to open, but I have growing room for the future ------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust http://www.geocities.com/ottouk_77/68mustang.htm
