Will an Edelbrock RPM performer for a 65 289 - 4v with an open element air cleaner (3 inch`s bottom of cleaner to top of wing-nut) clear the stock hood or would there be clearance issues?------------------ JOHN 65 FASTBACK 2+2.....14.44 @ 107mph 1/4 87 TAURUS WAGON 03 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 SHORT BOX Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 65 FASTBACK 2003 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 [This message has been edited by johnmustang (edited 12-07-2003).]

John I'd say it would clear. I know on my 65 with a 351 an RPM intake it clearned with a 3" tall total for air cleaner and housing and wing nut.Now if you want to know what I'd do instead ? ------------------

John, I clear with no problem at all and you can see my specifics below in my signature I don't see where there'd be any problem....------------------ What makes men chase women they have no intention of marrying? Not to be argumentative, but I have my doubts it will fit, unless you have a drop base. On my 65 I run the 2" oval filter and had to revert back to the 65 stud style motor mounts to gain sufficient clearance (about 1/4" now). If you jave the late 65 (66) style motor mounts you will lose about 1/2" of hood clearance. Granted the oval filter meant it goes further forward than a round filter where the slope of the hood comes into play, but I still doubtful about fitting a 3" without a drop base. Just my thoughts.
