I was curious if anyone had figured out a way of doing this without using the hydraulic clutch setup. I was looking at the setup I have all ready and was able to come up with a way, but I'd have to cut the equalizer bar and weld on a new piece so that it would be working properly. Is there a car that actually has the proper linakge to swap this over with or am I just left with the hydraulic or customize options? Oh BTW it's a 65 with a 302 Thanks, Luke[This message has been edited by Mooney (edited 11-19-2003).]

Several options... The set up I use is the stock linkage with the toploader bellhousing and an adapter plate for the tranny.Another option is cable set up with T-5 bellhousing....mustang steve has a kit that uses a factory cable and a weld on quadrant for the pedal, it looks pretty slick. You're not far from me if you want to put an eyeball on my set up, just give me a call. 770-942-9531 ------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page

I also used the stock linkage. I bought the T5 conversion kit, which included a new yoke, bellhousing adapter plate and new modified tranny brace (kit is available from any Mustang parts company, they all just resell the same kit).

I thought about the conversion kit all ready. But problem is it's a bit too pricy for my taste. I think with a bit of ingenuity and my all ready roughed out sketches I can change my equalizer bar to work. But I appreciate the help. Would it be possible to maybe grab a hydraulic kit off a car from a pick n pull? I know I'd probably never find a car there with a 5 speed, but you can always hope.

Look at S-10's and Camaros. They both used T-5 transmissions. Both had hydraulic slave cylinders. On GM slave cylinders match the bore exact for the master and your set.But...I recomend a cable setup from Mustang Steve.

Cable setup is the way to go for cost and great shifting , no more linkage problems. Modern driveline has a kit that I used. Havn't had a problem. Bracket to hold cable near firewall bolts behind the master cylinder. Pretty straight forward install and detailed instructions.------------------ 67 Mustang F/B 302 GT-40X FMS Crate engine 5 spd cable clutch13.39 on 205/70/14 BFG @104 mph Flowmasters X Pipe 4.11 9". This is just an idea I was playing with. But I was thinking of drilling out the pivot ball from the t-5 and locating it to the same spot that the pivot ball is placed on my toploader bell. And use the toploader clutch fork to change the pull of the linkage. I'm just looking for the cheapest possible way of having this done and if I can fab it up myself then it'll save me some money.

I did the T-5 conversion on my 66' coupe about two years ago. Until last month, I was running the factory mechanical linkage. I recently threw in a 385 h.p. 302 in, along with it I installed a Ron Morris Cable Clutch kit. The kit took about and hour to install and was very straight forward. This kit is way better than factory and most other cable clutch kits on the market. If I were you I wouldnt waste my time with the mechanical linkage, to me its very unreliable, especially if you put in a high performance clutch, that equilizer bar will bend in no time.
