Anybody know if you can use 1.7 ratio rocker arms on 289 Hipo with the stock hipo cam & pistons. The 1.7 arms would increase the the valve lift from .477 to .507 on both intake & exhaust.

How do you figure out the effect a higher rocker arm ratio will have on your valve lift?

It might have been someone on an ebay auction or something but I remember reading somewhere about Carrol shelby using 1.7 rockers or something on the shelby cars?Am I way off base with that? Can I use rockers like that on a C code engine? No shelby did not use 1.7 rockers on his cars. The BB cars came standard with the FoMoCo 1.73 hydraulic or 1.76 FE solid rockers. yes you can install 1.7 rockers on your stock "C" code engine. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! I was reading what was wrote, I have a 351W. I tried to calculate what you mentioned and I dont think it came up right. My gross lift @lobe is .305 on both I and E with 1.6 RR on stock heads. If I change to a 1.7 the ratio is something like .5185 If this is correct, is this too high for stock 351W heads? and what effect will it have overall?
