For all you guys who put your car up on blocks for the winter where do you put your jackstands on the frontend?I usually jack the front end of the car up right under the lower ball joint on the lower control arm.The trouble is that the jack is then in the way so you can't put the jackstand there. If you put it any further up along the lower control arm when you let the jack down the control arm will usually slip off of the jackstand. If you put the jackstand on the framerail you really have to jack the car up high because the suspension drops down a long ways.

I just jack it up by the frame rail then slip the jack stand quickly under the part where the frame rail and the torque box are joined.
I know plently of folks jack up by the lower control arm, but it's never seemed a good option to me.

Well, here in Tennessee most of the cars I see up on blocks (in the front yard - usually two ir three) are literally "up on blocks" - concrete blocks - usually under the rotors and drums because the cars have no wheels.

I have a '65 Mustang in the garage (with wheels) and the jackstands (metal) are under the frame rail under the firewall at the front and under the frame rail near the front spring hanger in the rear.

If you get a three or four foot long piece of 4x4 inch wood, you can place it on the jack and lift the car easily and as high as you need off of the strut rod bushings. Works great.
