Remember me? Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Just too doggone busy. Anyway, was wondering about the Ford kickdown lever that comes on Holley carbs. I'm still converting from a 3 spd manual to a C4 and need to know if I need a carb with this provision or if I can use a cable like the one Lokar has. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks. ------------------ David G. 1969 Mustang Sportsroof 2003 Black Mustang Mach I

"Keekdown leever? You don't need no steenkeen keekdown leever!". Seriously...I'd use the Lokar (or similar rodder type part) if I were to go the kickdown route. Much easier installation than finding the right carb linkage and then adjusting it. I didn't reinstall mine either. I just stomp it and get all I need. No shift necessary! I installed my kickdown lever the other day in my 65.My carb is a mechanical secondaries speed demon without the ford kickdown.I am using the stock accelerator with the kickdown on the accelerator linkage.Run the cable from the kickdown on the accelerator to the kickdown arm on the trans.Make sure you dont get the cable to tight.Leave some slack.Set it were the pedal is to the floor, and the kickdown is activated but not pulled up to tight.I was thinking about leaving mine disconnected also, but the transmission shop that built the trans said to hook it up.They said the trans needs it as far as performance. He went through a very detailed breakdown on the discussion, which I forgot what half was said.I just hooked mine up.If anyone knows the performance advantage please let us know.THANKS TOMMY------------------ 65 coupe,351W,C4 TRANS,9in w/325 pos (The Heartbeat Stops Here)

I don't run one either never have. I run a built C4 that shifts real firm. I think it's more fun to shift it myself. My trans guy said my C4 doesn't need the kick down installed. Some trans need them to not burn out the pump. Brian, with that 460 I'm sure you don't need to down shift.
