Someone will give you a more definitive answer, but I think that the Galaxie used a different spindle, not compatible with a Mustang. You should be fine with a Falcon (similar to 69 Mustangs) and with a Cougar. You might also look around at the 1976 to 1980 Fairmont/Granada/Monarch brakes too. There seems to be a lot of support for these brakes and a lot of people have converted over to these.

Make sure to get everything--bolts, tie rod ends, backing plates, spindles, distribution block, discs (if turnable), hoses and brake lines (to see how everything goes together--you may have to re-route them), and calipers and master cylinder (probably will need new ones, especially on the falcon, but these come in handy at the parts store for cores). The junk yard might charge for each trip in and you never know what part you missed until you don't have it when assembling it.

If the falcon is in poor shape, its brakes might also be in similar shape and you might avoid them. I usually find that a car is the sum of its parts, good or bad.

You've been around the hobby a while (nice car!!! ), so I'm giving a lot more info so others can use it.

Good luck.
Daniel

fairmont brakes will not work as they have a completely different suspension setup. cars that will bolt on with little work are;
1: granada/monarch
2: 68-73 mustang/cougar
3: 68-71 torino/montego
4: 71 up maverick/comet

cars that may fit with little work;
1: 72 up torino
2: 77-79 tbird
3: 77-79 cougar

cars that will fit, but you need cone shaped spacers made to fit the ball joints;
1: 65-71 tbird
2: 66-70 galaxie

you may have to change wheels with some of these conversions as stock mustang wheels may not clear the calipers.
