Someone's just offered to trade a '67 Continental for my Camaro. I'm really interested! The Lincoln has a diesel engine, but the original 462 and tranny would be included in the deal.
I'd never even thought about this engine until yesterday. I understand it's heavy, but very smooth. Anything else? Perhaps parts are hard to find? It seems it was only made for a couple of years.

The MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) Engine Series was produced from 1958 to 1968, the 462 being the final derivative 1966 to 1968.

IIRC, the 462 engine family had a strange block/head setup similar to the 348/409 Chevy engine. The block deck was machined at an angle to the bore (not perpendicular) and the head surface is flat; so the combustion chamber is formed in the bore itself.
