I was vacuuming out my 67 today and I noticed something funny for the first time. In the drivers side floor there seems to be a high spot in the floor where the frame rail is. I have had the car for 5 years and it has been garage kept at least by me and the previous owner. It is not rusty, and I crawled undernieth but didn't see anything wrong or rusty. I guess I have nothing to worry about, I guess maybe it just sags a little from being old?

Is it just a little lump? Cause I would try pulling back the carpet if it is, to see if anyting is there.

This last summer I too was vacuuming out the car and noticed a bump in the backseat carpeting. I go frustrated with it so I pulled back the carpet and insulation and found a window crank, there from the factory. Maybe in some factory worker's haste he put down the carpet without checking to see if anyting was there, well now I have an extra window crank

It was there so long though that the carpet is still as an "empty" lump in it.

I was replacing the carpet in my '67, there was a spring about an inch in diameter and 2 inches long under the underlayment, I used a razor blade to slice the underlay and removed the spring. The spring has square wire, don't think it goes to a Mustang, probably a tool at the factory????

Actually I noticed a dip, a low spot right below the gas pedal, but then I realized it was actually a high spot, almost directly above the frame rail, and it just made the spot between there and the trans hump look low. I think the carpet was replaced by a po, so I doubt there is a nos window crank under there.

I think it's the floor, should I worry?

I'd pull the carpet back and see how it looks on the inside. When I bought my 67, the floorpans looked fine from underneath the car. It was a whole different story one I removed the carpet.

I guess the best thing I could do would be to just get in there to take a closer look. I just went out there, but I can't pull the carpet back too far without taking out the kick panel. Hopefully after work tommorow I'll have time to check it out and post what I find.

I see some thick rubber under the carpet on the toeboard, so it's probably over the floor aswell. Should pull up easy after the carpet is up. I can pull up the edge of that too, and the floor on the toeboard looks real good. Must have been redone at one time.

Anyway, post tommorrow hopefully. :/

Well, I just checked it out.

I found a previous owners repair, basically a patch of sheet metal screwed to the floor, but no signs of any (remaining) rust.

I don't really know what to think about this. I suppose I can't complain, I could have found much worse. At least it looks like someone did a half decent job of repairing it.

At least I know what I've got. :/
