I purchased and installed new window handle crank knobs in my car about a year ago. While I do drive the car often, I do not usually have passengers. Well my folks were in town last weekend and of course my dad wanted to drive. So I was the passenger. I began to roll down the window and the knob broke off in my hand.

The mfg. has a 30 guarantee. I am happy with the other 3 knobs I replaced as they have not broken. Since the knob gets little use and isn't very old, I thought it was odd that it broke.

Now, this isn't an expensive item but it will have to be replaced. I happen to have a spare so I won't have to buy another one.

Should I just replace it with my spare and forget it, or notify the company I bought it from as well as the mfg. and let them know this story?

Email the company and assertively, but politely let them know what happened. I did this with my plug wires when the came apart, and the company is sending me a check towards a new set of wires. email seems to have turned some company policies around.
