Is the switch located in the shifter housing or on the trans? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for an auto shifter and a guy has one but says the switch if for a c6. If it's in the shifter, what difference does it make? I'm assuming the same thing goes for the back up light switch as well.

Thanks.

The FMX has it mounted on the shifter, under the shift indicator, and the C4 and C6 have it mounted on the trans itself, I believe (99% sure)

Is the neutral safety switch and backup light switch the same thing or are there two different switches?

If they are the same, will this switch connect to my existing wiring for the manual backup lights?

I just found one in my garage yesterday along with the base plate that someone put in a 67 I once had. It look like the wires for the shift indicator light is cut because I guess the 67-68 runs down from the dash and under the carpet. I might also have the shifter lever part somewhere but I haven?t seen is yet. I think the lever is different because it looks like the lever actuates the safety switch. If you still need it give me about a week to see if I can find the lever. My time is very limited right now due to the new addition of a future Ford lover to our family.

I think the backup switch is an integral part of the safety switch. It has a four pin plug with two male and two female ends on it and two red with blue stripe wires and two black with red stripe wires on it.
