I am in the process of organizing nuts bolts and fastners. I would like some advise on the door hinges. Is it OK to reuse the stock bolts? Also, are there any tell-tale signs of wear that i can look for on the stock hinges since they are off the car??? Thanks Some before pix arre on my web site The "During Pix" are in the making. ------------------ http://members.cox.net/351w/index.htm 67 Deluxe Coupe 289 4v Fact Air, Front Discs

On both of my Mustangs the bolts on the door jambs were rusted and stripped. I retapped the holes and used new bolts from NPD and installed them with antiseize. With the hinges off the car you can give them a good cleaning and check the bushings and pin holes for eggshaping. If you flip them upside down you'll get a good look at them. You'll be able to feel any slop in the pins. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150

Bakers67Coupe...good to see another member here from the Phoenix area (I'm in Glendale). Follow what Steve said above regarding slop in the bushings on the hinges, and you can reuse the bolts. Only time I would advise against it would be if the threads are stripped, of course. I reused mine on my '70, no problems. ------------------ Gary M. 1946 Ford pickup 1946 Ford pickup 1957 Ford FL 500 Twn Vic 1970 Mustang SportsRoof

If the bolts are reusable, sure. Out of my two cars I was 0 for 24 for reusable bolts on the door jambs. The bolts on the door side seem to stay in good shape, though. Maybe you Arizona guys fare better for rust, come to think about it. My cars come from Maine and San Francisco, California. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150

Thanks for the advise. The bolts look really good so I will re=use them. I bought this 67 disassembled so I am slowly taking inventory. The link to my wevsite needs to be copied and pasted. The link sends people to my recently defunct site.As far as rust goes, this cat had very little surface rust but a bit more severe under the old vinyl top, Thsmks again guyd ------------------ http://members.cox.net/351w/index.htm 67 Deluxe Coupe 289 4v Fact Air, Front Discs [This message has been edited by Bakers67Coupe (edited 09-06-2003).]
